The Australian Podcast Awards returns for the fifth consecutive year

Following the unprecedented admission and industry support in 2020, Australian Podcast Awards (APA) will return to its fifth year in the official plan for 2021 announced on August 24, 2021.

This year’s APA will have a total of 31 award categories, including four new categories. The new award categories include the Spotify Rising Star Award, which recognizes the success of new creators, as well as the best sales team, best business activity, and best marketing activity.

The award also announced the first batch of partners, including Gold Partners Spotify, iHeartPodcast Network Australia, Nova Entertainment Podcast Network, Podfollow and Podnews. Triton Digital’s Omny Studio joined as a category partner.

Matt Degan, Director of the Australian Podcast Awards, said:

“2020 is the biggest year in the history of the Australian Podcast Awards-we are committed to making 2021 bigger. We know that people are turning to podcasting more than ever before, and content from Australia is indeed world-class We are very pleased to launch this year’s awards to promote industry innovation and the development of emerging podcast content, thereby pushing the industry forward.”

The Australian Podcasting Awards was launched in 2016 to showcase Australia’s outstanding podcasters and content. Now in its fifth year (and also the second pandemic year), the award continues to recognize the industry’s most innovative and emerging content in its different categories.

The 2020 winners include Aerial View, The Uncut Life of Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, Matt and Alex’s all-day breakfast, Spotify Search engine gender, That’s incredible Mamma Mia from ABC Deduction with 7 o’clock in the morning Among others.

Although the Covid-19 pandemic continues to disrupt the creative industry, podcast content and listeners continue to soar in Australia and around the world. Celebrating the content and its creators remains the core focus of the Australian Podcast Awards.
